I learned from someone recently that the most common word out of GIRLS/WOMEN's mouths is "I can't [whatever]"   So "I can't sew well", "I can't run fast", "I can't do math", whatever...

and her advice was to add the word YET to that

so, "I can't sew well .... YET"

I make my cheerleaders (I coach) do push ups whenever one of them says "can't"....it's a dirty word, in my book LOL and if I hear it, everyone gets punished.  Funny, after the first couple weeks of practice, I never heard it again....

lol, I know I can do anything I decide to do. I have proved that over and over again. I taught myself to do the brakes on cars, I taught myself how to sew. my problem is I'm lazy.

When someone say's "I can't do ......." what they sometimes mean is that they aren't very good at it nor do they wish to take the time to be good at it.  In other words it does not interest them enough to become a personal challenge.  When I say "I can't bake a proper cake" I mean I have no desire to learn.  When I say I can't do a full and proper push up I mean I don't really care.  What I have a desire for, I learn to do.

This is the best answer to the word can't I have ever heard. Thanks i am going to use for now on.
